.pdf organizing and sharing software

Thomas has a post about various software for organizing your .pdf files and biblio info., as well as creating shared pools of .pdf's.

All my life I've used commercial programs like Procite and Endnote to deal with bibliography stuff, all programs which wound up being owned by the academic technology behemoth Thompson Learning Group. The applications Thomas and Colin discuss at syntactician are much much geekier. It is all open source and sourceforge and GPL and it looks more flexible and powerful than what I deal with but do I really want to change the way I organize my shit and have to learn new software with less than user friendly geek oriented documentation and I should be grading.
