via Ray Davis the comments section at John and Belle, here is a snippet of an epic poem by Alice Notley called The Descent of Alette in which every phrase is in scare quotes, the so called "inverted commas." Davis says he isn't sure if Notley claws at the air with her fingers when she reads the poem out loud. The blogger who posted the excerpt suggests that Notley has more serious motivations for using the quotation marks.
I'm actually having a more productive day today. Yay me!
