job advice

I would like to emphasize again that if someone says to you "Oh, yes, teaching on line is easy. I use this that and the other totally high tech method, and I get great responses from my students!" they are not offering you teaching advice. They are showing off. Under no circumstances should you try to do what they do.

It's true. The myth is that all students are tech savvy and love anything involving the web. It's not true at all and often the software involved is not at all user friendly.

Don't get me started on the software. Just don't.

The one piece of advice that I wish someone gave me before I started this course was "you need to spend at least a semester before the course starts getting the site ready." I did get this advice, after the semester started.
