misplaced modifier fun

Ok, I know I haven't posted in almost two weeks. To compensate, I give you a sentence from a student paper, which I will now use to illustrate misplaced modifiers in class:
I don't think because someone is a different religion they go to hell like a lot of Christians

What misplaced modifier? That sentence makes PERFECT sense to me...!

While the student obviously meant to say that many Christians are going to hell, the sentence could be read merely as saying that the student's beliefs are different from many Christians.

I was trying make a joke, too, by reversing the intended and accidental meanings of the sentence.
